With the significant expansion of businesses in the area over recent years, mobility and transport challenges have emerged, as thousands of workers travel to, from and around the district daily. This was identified as a major contributing factor to liveability and workability in the area.
Similarly, increased demand on local connectivity infrastructure has brought to the fore the need to future-proof local authority assets and explore future connectivity requirements for the district.
Other key issues highlighted by the community include the need for more dedicated green spaces as well as initiatives to help build the local sense of identity and community.
Smart Sandyford seeks to address the identified challenges through innovative research projects which will strengthen Sandyford’s competitiveness as a place to live and do business.
From using satellite data to map local accessibility assets to providing front-line workers with access to e-bikes, Smart Sandyford is delivering a wide range of impactful projects.
