Relaunched in 2016, packing 234 datasets, and designed with the needs of developers, researchers, public agencies, and active citizens in mind, Dublinked is a fine example of quality open data that is positioning the region globally as a leader in this important space.
The four Dublin Authorities got together to share data about the region in one online platform that is open for all to load, use, reuse, and mash up into something new.
- The overall goal is to build Dublin’s profile globally as a promoter of quality open data, trust and standards, as well as to foster a culture of knowledge sharing and civic engagement.
- This should lead to improved economic development by speeding up the advancement of services based on data and enabling test bedding of new services.
- The strategy is to create a pool of high-value data for research purposes, as well as the normal “open” data to improve the culture of open data and to give Dublin-based companies a significant advantage in this rapidly growing area.
Dublinked platform is designed for developers, researchers, public sector agencies, and active citizens.
Every area has featured open datasets that are likely to be of interest, plus data stories featuring brave citizens who have gone out and explored and created beautiful things that are helpful and profitable and of use to the community.
There is practically as much data powering Dublinked as NASA had when it first landed a man on the moon – and all available within one click.
The “Right Now In Dublin” area is powered by Dublin Dashboard and shows live data about noise, pollution, parking, traffic and property prices.
- If you are a developer interested in using your skills for good, visit Dublinked and keep informed about Smart Dublin challenges, as well as events, and a host of juicy datasets.
- If you are a researcher or active citizen, come on over and join in the open data happenings that are going on in your city.
- If you are from a public sector agency, browse the data sets and discover how open data is adding economic and social value in Dublin.
