European Capital of Smart Tourism Awards 2022

Dublin was shortlisted for the European Capital of Smart Tourism Awards 2022!

The European Capital of Smart Tourism initiative recognises outstanding achievements by European cities as tourism destinations in four categories: sustainability, accessibility, digitalisation as well as cultural heritage and creativity.

Dublin alongside the following six European cities were shortlisted for the award (Bordeaux, Copenhagen, Florence, Ljubljana of Slovenia and Palma & Valencia in Spain).

This EU initiative aims to promote smart tourism in the EU, network and strengthen destinations, and facilitate the exchange of best practices.

In 2021 Dublin City Council and Fáilte Ireland, in partnership with Smart Dublin and the Dublin City Council Culture Company, came together to launch a new strategic partnership: the city’s first and very own Smart Tourism Programme. The aim of this programme is to make Dublin City a smart tourism destination and to capitalise on the opportunity to blend the city’s expertise in technology, tourism and smart city collaboration. By centralising our smart tourism efforts, Dublin has begun a series of projects and investments into key ideas and infrastructures designed to enhance the visitor experience through progressive collaboration with both internal and external partners.

We would like to congratulate the two worthy winners of the award Valencia and Bordeaux. We would also like to thank the European Commission for the Shortlisting.
